Hydro Jetting in Bluffdale, UT

Eruption Plumbing & Drains offers hydro jetting in Bluffdale, UT and nearby towns for drain and sewer lines that keep clogging. Jetting uses high-pressure water to scour grease, scale, sludge and tree roots off the inside of the pipe, so the line is clean wall to wall instead of just poked through. We offer camera inspections too, and you get an upfront price before we start.

Hydro jetting vs. snaking

Snaking pokes a hole through the clog. Hydro jetting cleans the whole pipe.

Snaking: a cable bores through the blockage and gets water moving. Fast, and fine for a single clog, but grease, scale or root fibers can stay on the walls.

Hydro jetting: rear-facing jets pull the nozzle down the line while they scrub the walls, and the debris flushes out to the sewer. The pipe ends up close to its full width.

We'll tell you which one your line needs. If snaking will do, that's what we'll recommend. For a single slow drain, regular drain cleaning is usually all it needs.

When hydro jetting makes sense

Hydro jetting is the right tool when a line keeps clogging, not for every slow drain. It's for buildup along the whole pipe.

  • The same drain clogs again a few weeks or months after snaking
  • Heavy grease buildup in kitchen lines
  • Tree roots growing into the sewer line through joints
  • Hard-water scale narrowing older drain pipes
  • Sludge and debris in a main line that drains slowly all the time
  • Businesses with kitchens that put a lot of grease down the drain

Camera first, then jetting

A camera inspection before jetting is the smart move. It shows what's in the line and the condition of the pipe.

Jetting is great for buildup and roots, but a cracked, collapsed or badly separated pipe needs sewer line repair, not more water pressure. Seeing it first means you only pay for the fix that will actually work.

Is hydro jetting safe for older pipes?

In pipes that are in sound condition, yes. The pressure is adjusted to the pipe size and material.

In pipe that's cracked, badly corroded or already broken, high pressure can make things worse, which is why a camera inspection comes first on a line in question. If your line isn't a good candidate for jetting, we'll tell you and give you other options.

How a hydro jetting job works

Camera where it's needed, an upfront price, then the line jetted clean from end to end.

  1. Call or text (385) 775-3989

and tell us which drains are slow or backing up, and how often it happens.

  2. Camera inspection

where it's needed, to see the buildup and check the pipe condition. Then an upfront price before any work.

  3. Jetting

from the cleanout, clearing the line from end to end.

  4. Check and clean up.

We run water to confirm the line flows freely and leave the area clean.

Tree roots in the sewer line

Hydro jetting cuts roots out of the line and flushes them away. Roots can grow back through the same joint or crack, so we check whether the pipe is damaged too.

Roots look for water, and a small crack or loose joint in a sewer line is all they need. Once inside, they grow into a net that catches paper and waste. If the camera shows a damaged section, we'll talk about repair options too, including trenchless options where they fit.

Is hydro jetting better than snaking?

For a single clog, snaking is often enough. For lines that keep clogging from grease, scale or roots, hydro jetting is usually better, because it cleans the whole pipe wall instead of just opening a path. We'll recommend the one your line actually needs.

Is hydro jetting safe for old pipes?

It's safe for older pipes that are still in good condition, because the pressure is set for the pipe. It isn't the right choice for pipe that's cracked, collapsed or badly corroded. That's why a camera inspection comes first when the pipe's condition is unknown.

How often should a sewer line be jetted?

Most homes never need routine jetting. Lines with recurring root intrusion, or kitchens that send a lot of grease down the drain, may benefit from periodic jetting. We'll tell you what we see in your line and whether it needs a schedule at all.
